Meet The Artist

I am an artist who paints just about everything.  I enjoy doing portraits of people, pets and homes and have done my share over the years.  I enjoy both landscapes and still life subjects and have launched a new idea that will combine both.  This is what My Transparent Journey is all about.  I am learning to broaden my skills and performance as a painter, to connect with other artists and people and to launch out there and share my art on a more personal level.  For me this is a daring approach and something I am not familiar or relaxed with.  So learning will take on many different forms as I reach out through the world of social media.  It is my hope and prayer that I will grow, mature and develop as an artist and a person.  I have so much to share and to offer ─so much to receive and discover.

My studies range from an extensive two year commercial art course in Vocational High School to on the job experience retouching and restoring photographs to digital retouching and PhotoShop adventures.  I have also studied and taken classes from many artists and continue to do so; remaining teachable has always been one of my strong points.  My work has been collected, purchased and exhibited in local galleries.  I have also been selected to exhibit at the Capital Rotunda for the Governor’s Derby Exhibit in Frankfort KY. 

I never back away from a challenge and I love to try new things.  I do not fit into any mold or style because to me art is not about that.  I love to create and what you see is a result of that passion.  The heart, emotion and eye of the artist are intuitively attached to the end of a paint brush and then we go for it!  What we achieve at the end of the day may or may not be what we were going for and we try again.  So it is with another work of art.  To express one self may be all we have left in this world of clamouring production and endless repetition.  The lack of individuality wears on the mind and soul.  I hope that one thing I reveal will spark joy in the eyes of those who see it and bring them a memory that has long been tucked away or a moment in time that has long since past, but needs revisited.  I hope one painting or whatever I create takes you to a place of contentment and finds its resting place somewhere in your life and heart.  I cannot think of any greater reward for my work and it is work!

The ultimate artist is the Creator of the Universe whom I choose to call YHVH (referred to as the tetragrammaton).  Who is He?  His name means I Am that I Am, do we need anything else?  The gift in me is merely an extension of Him.  Everything we are blessed to see of this earth and beyond is also an extension of Him.  The values, goodness and life that He has blessed us with far exceed the riches and pleasures of this earthly life which are always passing away day by day.  I am grateful for all He has done for me and to me causing me to grow and become awakened to a spiritual life far beyond anything I could have ever hoped or dreamed of.  He is the lover of my soul now and forever more.
